Dave Dowling

I'm sure that everyone at Clive Motorcycle Club, and many who have been involved with the Welsh National Rally as volunteers or participants, will be saddened to hear that Dave Dowling passed away, peacefully, on Saturday 5th May, at 7:20 am; the morning of the 2018 Rally.

Dave was a very active member of the club. As well as helping to run quiz nights and the Photo and Classic Rallies, he was the "inventor" of the Welsh National Rally. He organised the first in 1994, which was held as an overnight event and attracted 41 entries. From there the Rally has gone from strength to strength, helped on by Dave's organisational effort, encouragement, endless optimism and ever-present sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Cynthia, his family, Archie (the biker dog) and his very many friends.

The weather for the start of this year's Rally was sunny, warm and bright for the first time in several years. It's a comforting thought to imagine that 10 minutes before the first riders set off, Dave would certainly have been having a word with the powers that be, to make sure that the blue skies continued for the whole day.

The service will be held on Monday, May 21st, 14:45, at Shrewsbury Crematorium.
All are welcome. No dress code - bright or dark colours will be fine.
No flowers please but, if you wish, please make a donation to the Marie Curie Nursing Service, or the Llanfair Caereinion District and Community Nursing service.
